Bonnie, Bill & Ryan Tauber's Visit to Yellowstone

Driving to and from Wyoming to Maryland was very trying.  Our son Ryan was coaxed into going on this trip.  That feeling vanished when arriving at Zig & Mallie's.

We knew immediately upon arrival that we hit the jackpot on picking the right place.  You are the perfect distance from Yellowstone.  We actually stayed in Yellowstone the night before we arrived at Zig and Mallie's place.  There is no comparison.  The topography in their location is even more beautiful than Yellowstone.   As a professional gardener, I have never seen such natural beauty with regard to the wild flowers.  We had planned to drive to Yellowstone the whole week.  We wound up going there only two days.  The rest of the days were spent in the Beartooth area.  Stunning place!

We usually travel in a motor home, but this time we traveled in a full-sized passenger van because of the distance and mountains.  Staying at cabins where the hosts interacts with you on a personal level was very important to the experience in this fantastically beautiful wilderness area.  The trip was everything and more that we could have hoped for.

Zig & Mallie have an open invitation to visit us in our home in Pasadena, Maryland.   They work very hard to make their guests experience affordable and memorable.  The cabins are works of art.  You will not be disappointed.

Our family of 6 and friends of 4 stayed at the fishing cabin for 10 days.  We loved every minute of it.  The kids have all said they want to go back to the Cabin.  Thank Mallie and Zig for all the fantastic memoires, we really loved it.   I can still hear the kids laughter when we went to the Wedding of the Waters with the atvs.  You are perfect hosts in a perfect setting.  Thank you.

Zig and Mallie  have a heart so pure. A couple broke down while my wife and I were there and they took them in for the night. The next day Zig and Mallie  fed them breakfast; Zig hooked up his trailer to the truck and drove them & their vehicle to Billings, over hours away. Zig and Mallie are sincere and their placed is like no other. We had a great time up and down the river just outside our cabin.  We hope to return. Thank you Zig and Mallie

We stayed in the Bear Cave Cabin for 16 days and enjoyed every minute of our time here. We couldnít get over how peaceful and quiet it was at the property. Also, the mornings were usually fairly calm but then mid-afternoon a light to moderate breeze would kick in, making it very comfortable to sit on the river bank even when it was 80-90 degrees outside. Mornings and evenings we had campfires. The location is stunningly gorgeous, views of the mountains abound. We spent the vast majority of our time on the river, Stephen was amazed how quickly he caught fish. Also, the owners Zig and Mallie were very helpful in the reservation process and also in providing input on things to do. They also took us on a couple 4 wheeling excursions. The cabin is very clean and well supplied. It was easy to do some hiking right from the cabin, we especially loved going to the creek and the State lands. Cody is about 60 miles away, but the drive is very easy (not like switchback mountain driving) and would take us about 60 minutes. Cody has a Wal-Mart for a big stock up. Yellowstone is around 20 minutes from the property. You must take the drive to Red Lodge if you want an absolutely spectacular drive and donít mind switchbacks and heights. We did see a lot of buffalo, elk and deer, plus 3 black kittens and their mama regularly made appearances (could have been the tasty meals we gave them!). There were very few bugs to speak of.   Zig was very accommodating with information and let Stephen work with him on the sawmill and starting the building process of their new workshop/garage and caretakers structure. Mallie was right there working alongside Zig! Their property is breathtakingly beautiful and Zig and Mallie make you feel like part of the family.  The pictures on the internet are true to life but being there is even greater.  Zig and Mallie have given great thought and attention to detail to provide everything you would need to have a relaxed and enjoyable vacation. They even have a Cowboy Hot tub by the river! Zig's Indian inspired handicrafts were truly beautiful works of art. Thank you to the both of them for all they did!  We would happily return again!

My husband and I have always wanted to go to this area of the country. What a beautiful area and the cabin was awesome! It is convenient to Yellowstone, Red Lodge and Cody. Zig and Mallie were wonderful as well. We enjoyed our time around the campfire sharing some bourbon and wine. It was too cold for fishing but the hiking was great. Wildlife in the area is abundant; we even had a moose pay us a visit at the cabin. Even though it was unseasonably cold were able to get a few days of motorcycle riding in, even up the Beartooth and Yellowstone. We definitely plan to return to this beautiful place and next time bring the rest of the family along.

We LOVE the Fishing Cabin!

We stayed at Fishing Cabin for our first trip to Yellowstone and had the best time ever!  Mallie and Zig are wonderful and very helpful.  We saw a record 7 bears in 1 DAY in the park.  In fact, we never went into the park and DIDN'T see a bear.  The cabin is just perfect for families, and the location near the NE entrance to the park was great for all the wildlife we saw...wolves, moose, foxes, bison and of course, bears.  We were planning our return trip before we even left...Thanks Mallie for the idea of coming in September!  Thanks so much to both Mallie and Zig for your hospitality!

The cabin was perfect for us!  Everything we needed for a comfortable stay.  We spent 4 days in the park and 2 days at the cabin.  Caught fresh trout for dinner right outside the cabin, which was great!  The Beartooth Mountains are so beautiful!  And the cabin was stocked with everything we needed, cooking pots/pans and utensils, towels/bedding, a tv w/ dvd (we watched Bogey movies every night), a cooler to take in the park for lunches, and so much more!  Like I said, everything we needed.  And Zig & Mallie were so helpful and we enjoyed our chats with Zig!  Thanks for everything; I will try to send you some pics I took.

Imagine: you're lying in your bed in the morning and you're looking outside through the windows and what you see is a snow-covered mountain top, beautiful meadows and untouched forest. All you hear is birds and the streaming of the Clark's Fork River. You're really away from city life. Stay away if you like shopping malls, come immediately if you want to experience a touch of wilderness! We stayed the whole month of May in the cabin. We slept heavenly in the comfortable twin bed in the cabin Zig & Mallie build themselves with logs from their property. On cold days the electric heating makes the cabin nicely warm. The cabin is basic but everything you need is there. We enjoyed cooking our meals outside. We had lots of space around the cabin, so we put one pick-nick table in the sunny meadow at the river and one under the shady trees. Zig and Mallie are great hosts, very helpful and respect your privacy. They are always in for a good story and can tell you lot interesting stuff about daily life in this remote area. And don't forget to climb Mount Mallie when your there.

We stayed a week in this cozy, very functional cabin first week of October. I was a bit worry about the weather but it turn out be a beautiful week. Temperature was around 70's during day time and 50's in night. The cabin was well heated in night. Enjoyed hiking near by canyon, fishing right outside the cabin and just breathing Wyoming nature. The best part was barbecue on the wood fire iron cast grill that owner Zig & Mallie made, followed by having a glass of wine watching fire over looking wolf hurrying blue moon.

My husband and I had an absolutely fantastic week at the cabin (wish it had been two!!). The location and scenery were breath-taking and waking up every morning to the sound of the Clarks Fork River was amazing. The cabin had everything we needed and felt very homely. The cabin and surroundings are far more beautiful than the pictures on the website. Zig and Mallie (and their very friendly dogs and goats!) are wonderful hosts and made sure us City-Brits enjoyed every second of our vacation. If you love the outdoors, you'll love this place!!! We're already planning our trip for next year.

The cabin was simply awesome! We spent 8 days around the area and enjoyed every minute! The owners are tremendously nice people, and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The area is beautiful and relaxing and you may want to move out to WY. I realized that I want to retire in the area! Seriously! Guys, we miss you and your dogs and goats. Please throw Bo a stick for us, and don't let Teton dig to big a hole chasing Marmots or Picket Pens. We will be back! Cheers!!

This is the ideal location for families, old and with young children. My daughter, son-in-law and three grandchilden spent a wonderful, restful week in this cabin. I enjoyed listening to the rushing river every night while dropping off to sleep, and the grandkids enjoyed fishing and playing with the owners' dogs (they were missing their pets, but not for long!). We went rafting nearby and enjoyed the rodeo in Cody another night, and spotted several elk, deer, and moose on the drive back to the cabin. A big thumbs up for this site!!!

Can't wait to go go back.

I just wanted to thank Zig and Mallie for the awesome time we had in their cabin. It was one of the most memorable trips yet. Myself and 3 other guys went for the 2010 deer hunting season. Not only did we stay warm but we were very comfortable too, with very hospitable hosts to boot. We weren't able to get much fishing in but one of the guys with us did land a nice 14" trout. The hunting was awesome! We got 3 out of 4 deer, the biggest scoring in the 160 inch class range. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone, couples, groups, and families. Can't wait to go back. Maybe get a little more fishing in next time. Sincerely Jeremy Chacon Sacramento, CA

My family stayed for a week in this beautiful rustic cabin on the river! We absolutely loved it! The set up was perfect for our family with the large open room. It was a time that allowed us to bond with the kids versus having them go off to their "room" and do their own thing! The cabin had everything that we needed and Zig & Mallie were great "Hosts"! It was close to Yellowstone and allowed us to take several day trips to the park. We would definitely recommend this cabin to our family and friends.

A group of 7 enjoyed this cozy cabin for our successful elk hunt in mid-November. The surrounding area is gorgeous, and welcomes fishing and leisurely strolls along the river. While 800 sq ft might sound small-seven adults found it quite comfortable. It was very clean and decorated so tastefully. It has all the amenities needed. We had a great time relaxing with friends out on the deck, and playing cards and board games at night. Didn't miss TV at all. Plan ahead for your groceries. Stop in Cody on the way up, as there isn't much shopping close by. Use the opportunity to embrace the simplicity of this gem and its pristine location. Don't forget your camera!!! Owners are quick to answer questions and will go out of their way to make your visit special and memorable.
